Voice4Equity recently concluded an inspiring two-day Girls Policy Network™ in partnership with San Antonio ISD and Discovery Education, bringing together more than 30 high school girls for an immersive experience in policy leadership. Led by Voice4Equity founder and CEO Dr. Christina Kishimoto and former Ohio superintendent Dr. Talisa Dixon, the event created a dynamic space where young women collaborated on identifying community challenges and developing policy-based solutions. Participants engaged in workshops designed to amplify their voices, enhance their understanding of policy frameworks, and build the confidence to advocate for change on issues that matter to them and their communities.
The San Antonio gathering represents the most recent example of Voice4Equity’s commitment to cultivating the next generation of leaders in policy and governance. Throughout the two days, students moved from theoretical discussions to practical applications, working in teams to draft policy recommendations that addressed real challenges facing their schools and neighborhoods. Guest speakers included District 5 Councilwoman Teri Castillo, and final policy presentations were made to Superintendent Jaime Aquino. Many participants shared that this was their first opportunity to see themselves as potential change-makers with the power to influence systems. As one student reflected, “Before this program, I didn’t realize that my ideas could actually become policies that help people.” The Girls Policy Network continues to expand its reach, creating pathways for young women to step confidently into leadership roles and shape the future of their communities.
