Voice4Equity would like to recognize and celebrate the 2023 recipients of the Dr. Effie H. Jones Humanitarian Award from the American Association of School Administrators (AASA) – Bren Elliot and Dr. Avis Williams. This award recognizes leaders who exemplify the qualities modeled by the late Dr. Effie Hall Jones, a veteran educator and AASA associate executive director. Dr. Avis Williams, Superintendent of NOLA Public Schools, was featured in the November, 2021 edition of The Stories We Tell.
Dr. Kishimoto recently sat down with Bren Elliott, also a Women’s Superintendent Policy Leadership Academy (WSPLA) alum, to chat about her work in D.C. and her commitment to removing barriers for student success. Bren is a tremendous force in the equity work she is leading and is dedicated to supporting her district in becoming a whole child anti-racist school district.
