CALLING ALL WOMEN EDUCATION LEADERS!
I am so excited to send you our December newsletter, The Stories We Tell, featuring Dr. Roxane Fuentes, Superintendent of Schools, Berryessa Unified School District!
Transitioning out of Thanksgiving and into the Christmas holiday season, I am so thankful for everyone who is supporting our work to bring more women into executive leadership roles in the education sector. I am fortunate to work with partners like Discovery Education that prioritize an equity-based approach in support of our High School Girls Policy Academy. I also recently joined the Curriculum Associates i-Ready team in Anchorage, Alaska to bring a message of the historical impact of women of color on equity policy.
This week I am in Washington DC, attending the 50th annual NABSE conference. NABSE has been on the front lines of racial and gender equity in education for more than half a century. Voice4Equity celebrates equity leader Dr. Nardos King, President of NABSE..
I am especially excited about the ongoing response to the When Women Lead summit! We have registrations coming in from across our nation – with more than half of our states represented! This month we are announcing our sponsoring partners for the summit – we have some amazing organizations who have stepped up to support women education leaders! Thank you to Imagine Learning, Pearson, Discovery Education, Curriculum Associates, USC Rossier School of Education, Classlink, Rex Academy, EdWeb.net, Merlyn Mind, ALAS, and NABSE for supporting women education leaders. We will be sharing more about our sponsors over the coming months, so stay tuned!
We have an impressive number of learning partners, a majority in the Superintendent seat, who will be facilitating small group sessions and speaking at the Summit. I hope you will join us and encourage a friend or a colleague to attend with you. We also need our male Superintendent allies to support women in leadership. Allies can sponsor and support the women on their Cabinet to be a part of this national network. There is no other event like this for women education leaders. Scroll down, visit the event website, and register today!
As we go into the holiday season, it is time once again to check in on how we are taking care of ourselves. Be sure to check out our second yoga video by Tiana Hill! And for those of you who are at the NABSE conference this week at the National Harbor in Maryland, look for me there. I would love to connect with you! Stay joyful!
With gratitude,
Christina
